Raisner Roupinian filed a class action suit against General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc., (“GDIT”) on September 27, 2019, seeking to recover 60 days wages and benefits under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (“WARN”) Act on behalf of approximately 1,000 federal agency employee background investigation employees.
On February 7, 2022, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (the “Court”) certified a class of former employees who worked on GDIT’s OPM contract and were terminated in 2019 without 60 days’ written notice. The Court also appointed Raisner Roupinian LLP as class counsel.
The parties participated in mediation on May 12, 2022, and reached a proposed $2,988,000 settlement of the WARN class action subject to preliminary and final approval.
On July 15, 2022, the Court granted preliminary approval of the settlement, and notice of the settlement was mailed to all class members on July 29, 2022. Settlement Class Members are defined as GDIT employees who worked on its OPM contract and were involuntarily terminated between June 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019.
On September 29, 2022, the Court granted final approval of the settlement. Settlement checks were mailed to eligible class members on November 18, 2022.
